Privacy.

We collect very little: your email address if you sign up, and cookie-free visit counts.

Effective 27 October 2026

If you sign up for email

We keep your email address, which sign-up form you used and, if you signed up on a fragrance page, which fragrance. Our email service, Buttondown, stores this for us. We also pass Buttondown the IP address of your sign-up, so its spam filter can judge the sign-up; we do not keep it ourselves.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. To see, correct or delete what we hold, email us.

Visitor statistics

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics: which page, the site you came from, your country, and your device and browser type. It sets no cookies. Vercel tells visitors apart with a code made from the request that resets every day, so a visitor cannot be followed from one day to the next or from site to site.

We also count three events: clicks on an Amazon button (which page and which product), clicks on any other link that leaves the site (which page and which website), and arrivals from a tagged link (which source, such as a newsletter).

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used: where people click and how far they scroll, and recordings of single page views, with sensitive content such as what you type into a form hidden. It runs without cookies, so each page view stands alone and Clarity cannot recognise you on another page or a later visit. Microsoft receives your IP address and browser details to provide this, and we tell it not to use the data for advertising.

Hosting and security

The site runs on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address and browser details with each request, keeps logs, and uses them to block abusive traffic.

What stays in your browser

Your saved fragrances (the Vault), your light or dark theme, whether you have already signed up for email, and whether you have seen the homepage explainer are kept in your browser’s local storage. They never reach us. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Other companies that receive requests

Many bottle photos load from Amazon’s image servers, so your browser sends Amazon your IP address and browser details when a page loads. Our fonts are served from our own site.

Our buy links go to Amazon and other shops, some through the affiliate networks CJ and Rakuten. When you click one, that shop or network may set cookies so it can credit us with a sale. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave our site.

Tracking across sites and Do Not Track

We do not follow you across other websites, and we do not let advertisers do so on our pages, so a browser’s Do Not Track setting changes nothing here. Shops and networks you click through to may track you on their own sites, as above.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not show ads. The site is not meant for children under 13.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, and to correct or delete it. If you are in the UK or the EU you also have the right to object and to complain to your data protection authority. We hold your email address because you asked to receive our emails; we keep visitor statistics and security logs because we need them to run the site.

Changes

When this policy changes we post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.
