The Scent File is an independent, community-scored fragrance dupe database. We track 1294 fragrances and 976 affordable alternatives, scored separately on accuracy (how close the dupe smells to the original) and longevity (how long it lasts). Scores aggregate from r/fragrance, r/fragranceclones, Fragrantica owners-of-both threads, and blind test communities.

How does the scoring work?

Accepted Answer

Every dupe gets two independent scores from 1 to 10 — accuracy (closeness to the original) and longevity (wear time). We never average them into a single number. Scores come in three tiers: community-verified (real signal from multiple owners), provisional (brand-average estimate from a single trusted source), and placeholder (dupe exists but no signal yet). The tier is visible on every dupe so you can see exactly how strong the evidence is.

Do you take brand deals or sponsorships?

Accepted Answer

No. The Scent File takes zero brand deals, zero sponsorships, and zero paid placements. Rankings reflect community consensus only — they are not influenced by what we earn. We do receive affiliate commission when you buy through our links (at no extra cost to you), but the order and scoring of dupes is fixed before any affiliate logic runs.
